ENVIRONMENTAL ECOSYSTEM

SIG is committed to the principles and values of sustainable development and integrates them into its business processes. It takes the approach of sustainable development as a foundation of value creation and works together with the stakeholders to maintain the ecosystem. SIG plans to build and develop a strong and transparent relations with all the stakeholders, and actively communicate with them and, at the same time, seek out new ways to engage in environmental protection. With the sustainability in mind, SIG has completed the installation of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system to reduce the CO2 from the annual GHG emission, achieving potential net zero carbon emission from electricity.

COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

SIG is committed to uphold social accountability in accordance with the provisions of SA8000:2014 standard, International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions and applicable national laws to the following:-

  • Child Labour- Prohibition of child labour employment;
  • Forced or Compulsory Labour- Rejection of all forms of forced and compulsory labour, and working conditions found to be inhumane and exploitative;
  • Health & Safety- Provision of health and safety workplaces, elimination and reduction of hazards in the work activities;
  • Freedom of Association & Right to Collective Bargaining- Respect the rights of individual employee to freely form or join trade unions of their choice and the collective bargaining;
  • Discrimination- Rejection of all forms of discrimination in the recruitment, remuneration, access to training, promotion, dismissal or retirement of workers, based on race, social class or national origin, caste, birth, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, family responsibilities, marital status, union membership, political opinions, age or any other condition that could give rise to discrimination;
  • Disciplinary Practices- Provision of work environment that respects the dignity of all employees and will not tolerate any form of any forms of corporal punishment, mental, physical coercion, verbal abuse or discrimination;
  • Remuneration: Respect the right of employees to decent pay which is sufficient to meet the basic needs of employees and provide discretionary income;
  • Working Hours: Promotion of healthy work-life balance of employees through regulating working hours, both regular and overtime hours, rest periods, and weekly time off;
  • Management System – A Social Performance Team (SPT) consist of elected worker representatives and management is established for the implementation and monitoring of all elements of SA8000.
